The Union Pacific Railroad (reporting mark UP) (or legally Union Pacific Railroad Company and simply Union Pacific) is a freight hauling railroad that operates 8,500 locomotives over 32,100 route-miles in 23 states west of Chicago and New Orleans. The current Union Pacific corporation began in 1969 as the Southern Pacific Transportation Company; it would eventual grow to include (among others) the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad and the St. Louis Southwestern Railway, in addition to its eponymous railroad. The 1998 Union Pacific-Southern Pacific merger was not UP's first: Union Pacific had already merged with Missouri Pacific Railroad, the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company, the Western Pacific Railroad and the Missouri€“Kansas€“Texas Railroad. Since inception, Union Pacific has operated 3,915 GE-built locomotives. How To Operate Menu: First select the model variation you wish to view, then select the fleet model and click the "ENTER GALLERY" button.
