  • Notes: The New Flyer Industries High Floor (HF) model was a transit bus sold in Canada and the United States between 1986 and 2006. Starting with the D40, later the D40HF was introduced shortly after Den Oudsten purchased Flyer Industries from the Manitoba Government in 1986. Renamed, New Flyer, the company adopted a number of Den Oudsten's design and manufacturing elements. The HF models used a tubular steel structure. This, along with fiberglass body panels, helped reduce the vehicle's weight. Wheel housings were stainless steel, as were the stepwells, though they could also be fiberglass. The 35-foot variant, known as the D35 or later D35HF, was introduced a year later in 1987 which the first units going to AC Transit. One more year later, in 1988, New Flyer introduced the D60 or later D60HF as a 60-foot articulated bus. The D60 model was nicknamed the Galaxy with AC Transit also being the launch customer and the last units to Metro Transit of Minnesota. The D60HF was the last high floor bus produced by New Flyer. The 35-foot and 40-foot variations were available as a CNG, LNG or diesel powered, while the 60-foot variation was available as a diesel or electric powered. New Flyer developed a commuter coach, dubbed the D45S or D45HF named the Viking. NFI worked with their parent company Den Oudsten Bussen to develop the Viking, and the first two coaches were built by Den Oudsten. Due to competition from other manufacturers, as well as a general lack of customers for the unique vehicle, the Viking was only produced for two years (1998 to 1999) and subsequently discontinued. The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County of Houston and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York were the only customers to purchase the Viking.
