NJ Transit hopes riders return while it fills budget gaps with one-shots

There’s good news in New Jersey Transit’s budget plan- no fare hikes. For the next two years. But there’s a catch. The agency is using federal COVID-19 relief aid to help plug budget gaps. That money won’t last forever. And ridership isn’t expected to return to pre-pandemic levels for years. It’s all casting doubt on whether the system can continue providing service in the long term for those who rely on it.
