Connecticut Transit, or CTtransit, is the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT)-owned bus service. Several companies under contract to CTDOT operate services in metropolitan areas throughout Connecticut, mostly concentrated in Hartford and New Haven counties. CTtransit operates just over 400 buses serving 122 local, 25 express, and 12 bus rapid transit routes which is arranged into multiple divisions: Hartford, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, New Britain & Bristol, Meriden, Wallingford, and CTfastrak. Since 1993, Connecticut Transit has operated 881 New Flyer-built & 328 MCI-built buses.
