The BNSF Railway Company is the largest freight railroad network in North America. One of eight North American Class I railroads, BNSF has 32,500 miles of track in 28 states and more than 8,000 locomotives. It has three transcontinental routes that provide rail connections between the western and eastern United States. Today’s BNSF Railway is the product of some 390 different railroad lines that merged or were acquired during more than 160 years. From BNSF's inception, they've operated over 5,000 GE-built locomotives.
